Justin Zafra (RWU Architecture, Spring 2015)
During the 2015 Spring Semester of my Junior Year at Roger Williams University, I was given the privilege to continue my architectural endeavors in Florence through the ISI Florence Study Abroad Program. With a new environment, new mentors, and a more comprehensive studio involving urban context and design I was able to discover a new perspective and approach to architecture.
Through the teachings, lessons, and character of Carlo Achilli and my urban studio professors, I was able to follow this ambition and have been awarded the AIA Rhode Island Architectural Forum Scholarship. Generated from an endowment of the RI Foundation, the committee awards the scholarship to students studying architecture enrolled either in Roger Williams University or Rhode Island School of Design.
Though selective in award, I could not have reached this accomplishment without the experience given to me by ISI Florence, my professors, and memories I have made along the way during my academic pursuit abroad. I am sincerely thankful for the opportunity that was given to me.
