VART 204 – Drawing: The Human Figure
Discipline(s): Fine Arts
Credits: 3
Available: fall semester 2023, spring semester 2024
Instructor: Tiziano Lucchesi, M.F.A.
Description
This course offers students the possibility to master the basic notions of anatomical drawing. The first part is centered on the anatomical study of the male and female figures through brief theoretical lessons to illustrate human anatomy. Each theoretical lesson will be accompanied by real-time video projected in large formats on the studio’s wall. This way students can follow the teacher’s making of the drawing in real time. Students will then draw figures directly, both in the piazzas, in local museums and in the studio with live models. There will be an end-of-semester exhibit, after which students may take their work back with them.
Outcomes
On completion of the course, students should be able to:
– Understand and utilize the materials and techniques use in figure drawing
– Reproduce the human body
– Make a copy of an image.
– Develop their own personal style
Course descriptions may be subject to occasional minor modifications at the discretion of the instructor.
